Little Thoughts

One of my favorite blogs, Little Thoughts, has been down for 2 days now, and I am in withdrawal! I hope her bandwidth issues get resolved soon, because she has the most lovely artsy pictures and outfits.

She has a lot of pictures of her legs up in the air sporting colorful tights and adorable shoes. To console myself, I attempted to do the "Yulanda leg pictures" - see below.

She also has pictures of herself sitting on drawers - here's my weak imitation. yep - I'm sitting in right front of our pile of clothes to be dry-cleaned.

I have a lot of respect for bloggers who take wonderful, thoughtful pictures of themselves -- it's hard work to come up with different poses/backgrounds, and to put together outfits worth mentioning! I had planned to do several outfits, but I was pooped after putting together one and trying to take pictures of myself using the timer function. I think I've also realized how limited point & shoot cameras are! and that I need to get a tripod. . .

Anyways, here's the nosy little alien who was wondering if he could get some tights like mine.

Project Runway

Anyone watch the finale tonight? Even though everyone said this season has been the most lackluster I still love watching the show. And the runway show is always my favorite part because you get to see a designer's whole vision and story for a collection instead of the one-off pieces in the challenges.

Kenley went first and her collection didn't seem cohesive to me. I do like her hand painted fabric and use of textures, but overall I liked this the least.

   

Korto's collection had beautiful colors and everything looked immaculate. The dresses looked easy and graceful.

 

My favorite was Leanne with all the intricate waves and pleats. Even though the color palette was a bit too simple, I loved the creams and blues.  And she won - totally deserving!!!

Handbag Fever

Looking at everyone's collection of shoes and bags make my collection seem weak. :( 

When I get a big fat raise, I will go all out! Haha.

Until then, here is what I got.

Black Out

Ok, I did not realize HOW boring my shoes are until I took pictures of them. Look! Out of all my regular shoes, I only have 1 silver pair and 1 brown pair (which I just got on Monday - Cole Haan snakeskin pumps). The rest are just black, black, black - I need help.

Don't know if these count, but here are my tennis, running, golf, and hiking shoes...oh and my Danskos (I like them no matter what people say).

And these are to be donated soon, I've had them since college (years and years ago) and rarely wear them. Any you guys think I should keep? For that matter, any of my regular shoes I should donate?

For our devoted male reader. . .

Thao informed me this weekend that we actually have a male reader who reads our blog on a regular basis. I'm still in awe that anyone else besides our hubbies would read this blog, so here is a shout-out to that reader!

K said he would represent the men, and contribute to our blog. Actually, to be more specific, K & JW were hatching up a plan to:

a) hack into our blog and post a message
or
b) start a blog about our blog

LAME-O :) Anyways, I was bored at home, and happened to see K's tie rack. I don't know when K will start posting, so I thought I would beat him to the game, and blog about his ties.
I had to hurry and take pics before the puggy monster came and either sneezed on all of them, or wiped his face on them! click on pic for close-up. . .
Row 1 from the left: Oldie goldies! 1st tie on top is from his dad - it's got japanese handheld fans, and 18th century-looking people on it. 2nd tie is a Yves Laurent - must be like 30 years old. The black one is an old skool skinny tie with a llama on it - so cool - I think it's a hand-me-down from my cousin in Japan.

Rows 2, 3, & 4 from the left: bunch of ties we got during his work years at Eagle. 1st tie in 4th row, and Gold tie on bottom=yuck.

Row 5 from the left: blah, blah, blah, the bottom silver tie is from our wedding.

Row 6 from the left: my favorites! K was supposed to wear either the orange or the bottom blue tie for our wedding, but we were forced to go with the boring silver tie in row 5. The groomsmen were supposed to wear the 1st blue one, but then they ended up wearing the boring silver tie as well.

Row 7 from the left: I originally got the purple one for my bro or dad, but ended up liking it so much I kept it :)

A good number of K's ties are from TJMaxx/Marshalls, and he actually picked out most of them (especially the ones from other stores, which makes sense because he hates TJMaxx/Marshalls. . .and Target. . .and Sam's/Costco).

This is slightly off the topic, but while at Brooks Brothers this weekend, K picked up a cashmere tie and made a comment to Lilo and me about them. Lilo thought he said "this tie SUCKS!", but being his wifey, I actually understood his fobby accent, and realized he said "this tie is like SOCKS!" haha.

Variations on a vest

So Lilo and I purchased the same vest at UO this weekend. Born with a color-coordination handicap, I had originally planned on waiting to see what Lilo pairs the vest with. However, I was bored home alone (hubby has night shift, Ervy's pooped out), and decided to try out some combinations.

1. Plain & expected - a bennetton purple button up workshirt. I've got like 5 button down shirts I never wear - for some reason, I never feel comfortable in these type of shirts - I always feel messy with them! But wearing them with a vest on top may do the trick.


2. Another variation with a workshirt - also purple, but w/ stripes. I got this back when Macy's was about to close down at Gwinnett Place mall (yeah, it's THAT old!). It's a petite-sized shirt - the sleeves are just a little bit too short, so I roll them up. It's in some kind of shiny polyester so it never gets wrinkled. It's a noisy rustle-rustle type shirt, and I don't think it passes flame-retardant standards!
3. With a missoni-ish top from Arden B. I have had this shirt since 2001 - it is a little too tight & short and I'm too old to wear it alone now. The last time I wore it was on a date with K - that was like 7 years ago!
4. Going a little wild - I was in a rebellious mood, or perhaps I still had my "crazy/nasty non-matching" sickness left over from last week. Click on pic to see details - my momma got me this green shirt with pink flower/sunglasses-wearing giraffes. I always feel weird wearing this giraffe shirt w/o something on top -- it looks like something a little kid would be forced to wear, or something worn by a little blonde old lady w/ bright fuschia lipstick. I need a black jumper to tone it down.


On another note, maybe I should do a blog on my momma's style - she's wilder than I am!

Mallrats

Today, all three of us were able to meet up at the mall for lunch and a little shopping. We picked up a few things, but the highlight of our day was playing dress up at Neimans. We snuck a camera into the dressing room and dried on some beautiful dresses!
