Bootlicious, round 2!

MC Hammer pants are back in style, so I guess sooner or later Doc Martens would be back in action.

Did you ever wear them in high school? I never did, because I was wearing slippers all the time, or my velvet converse sneakers at school where slippers weren't allowed. Anyways, when I think of Doc Martens, I think of the guy who sat in front of us in the cello section in high school, who once turned around and said to us. . ."are you going to be my sex. . I mean stand partner?". He turned bright red after that. When we had all started orchestra together, the girls thought he was cute, but called him Rudolph because he had a red nose all the time from having a cold or allergies or something. Hm, this is slightly going down the memory lane, but when I think of that orchestra, I always think of the conductor who would sweat so much that he would bring extra shirts to change into during practice. His sweating problem was so extreme that his sweat beads would literally fly off his arms during practice. It was an advantage to suck, and sit in the back :)

I don't think I could work the two above. BUT, I love the one below. Apparently those colored panels are individual strips of leather so there are gaps between them. Definitely a must if I ever wore them in Hawaii, where you need a breeze circulating in your boots :)

Awesome boots. I initially thought they were insane, but now I love them. They're outrageously expensive, but perhaps there will be a cheaper alternative out there soon!

here's a quickie from a sickie!

while packing for our NY trip, I realized I need bigger bags! I've held off on buying big bags for a couple years now, since that is usually what I gravitate to. I'm a self-proclaimed bag lady and I would pack a whole meal in my bag if I could, in addition to an umbrella, jacket or scarf/blankie. Anyways, I ended up using this really old messenger bag I've had since I was 18 (damn, that was long ago).

So I'm now officially off the "Big bag ban", and am lusting over these (Sherlock and Esme bags from Jenny Yuen). . .

I'm on a black bag ban now (what's up with the "bbb"s?). By the way, I'm still kicking myself for not taking advantage of the Luna Boston 40% off sale on black friday -- I miraculously woke up on time for the sale, and yet did not take advantage because I was feeling stingy. sniff sniff. . .what the hell was I thinking?

I'm too lazy to post any further today since I'm sick at home, but I'll definitely post more on the Thanksgiving NY trip, as well as what kept me occupied last week :)

Shoes & Belts

I've been shoe searching like crazy this past month - trying to find pairs that are not black and not like my typical work pumps. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. My boring shoe collection is not due to my lack of trying, but rather...I can't seem to find any that are comfortable!

Somehow though, I suddenly got this notion that I desperately need a pair of Mary-Janes...in black of course.

Grey in the lead

I had claimed that blue was my favorite color. However, I need to face up to the facts, and confess that grey is actually my true love :)

When I shop at TJMaxx/Marshalls/Loehmanns, I always keep an eye out for a unique leather jacket at a reasonable price (~130 would be my price point). Though I have yet to find a fashionable one I am willing to shell out $ for, I figured I can dream about finding some similar to the ones below.

dresses in grey. . .the right one is similar to something mrs. beckham wore. I guess that means it's pretty formfitting - eck, probably not comfortable :)

purses in grey. . .I think the 1st one is actually purple, but it looks grey to me :) I really want to touch the last one - it looks so soft.

shoes in grey . . . the first one has built-in socks! I wonder how they'll stay up through time though - may take tons of starch. . .

for Thao. . .purple stuff! they look so lucious - yum.

what the heck - is the shirt below for some guy who wishes to accentuate his boobies? I don't get it. . .

if K gets the boots on the left, we can be a matchy matchy couple (I'm getting mine in brown because who knows what a klutz would do to light grey suede). I wouldn't mind having the exact same shoes on the right though I doubt we would be bold/lame enough to ever wear them together.

Ode to UO

I LOVE Urban Outfitters.

K's friend happened to comment last week that UO is mainly for college kids, and Barney's is more appropriate for our age group. I guess I never really shopped at UO while in college, since we didn't have one in town back then. Maybe I'm now out of its target age group, but I rediscovered UO again through Chictopia a couple months ago, and have been absolutely obsessed recently to the point where I know UO added new stuff to their website several times this week! I guess I should feel better knowing that I'm technically saving money by being obsessed with UO rather than Barney's since stuff at Barney's is so pricey!

Onto the important part. . .SHOES!

Ebay Tidbits

I've been browsing through Ebay quite a lot these past few days, so I thought I would post some tidbits related to Ebay.

- According to a recent WSJ article, the most recent popular search words for clothing are Ed Hardy, Nike, Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch! Must be all the young kids out there hanging out at Ebay, because no way would I search for those items (maybe Ed Hardy shirts for people my age, but definitely not the others)!

Ok, I do admit that I have an 8 year old turtleneck I love to death from abercrombie, which Ervy tugged & ripped during a pugtona session. My momma also recently brought me a brown sweater from there - apparently she and K's aunt went shopping there. Can you imagine short little asian mommas walking through that bass-booming, cologne-smelly, dark place? With huge posters of naked boys?

- I came across these cool 80s boots during the last minute of the auction, and was furiously entering 3 bids during the last 30 seconds. Craziness - needless to say, I did not win. Sniff - they're so cool. . .and they're really from the 80s but are NEW!

- I did come across another pair of boots that were interesting - they're labeled as magenta/pink, but it's kinda risky to buy them w/o seeing them in person first. . .they could be bright pink for all I know! On the right are some Burberry Prorsum heels that are totally not even in my price universe, but cause me to drool . . .Lilo - how about those for your next splurge :)

Mustard

The Manoush Lace Patch cardi I saw the other day reminds me that I've been really wanting to add mustard yellow to my closet. Being my skin color, I grew up with the notion that I couldn't wear any yellows, but I think the earthiness of mustard yellow would look nice. I also love the eggplant, mustard and grey combo from Anthropologie below!

Return of the shoe obsession (already?)

Am I having a relapse of my affinity/obsession for shoes? I came across the Solestruck online shoe store/ blog, and my eyes feasted on some lovelies :)

The fringe ones may be a little too daring for me, and the retro/modern ones may be too "me", so the finalists are the Jeffrey Campbell funky cutout/zip up ones, and the Camper boots!

On their SoleVoice blog, they have cute youtube videos showcasing some of their shoes, and they do "Looks for less" features. I also ended up finding the Jeffrey Campbell blog, which has tons of lovelies.

Maybe I should ban myself from the internet, to avoid seeing stuff I like :)

Bows are Back?

Throughout the seasons, I see bows come and go and lately they seem to be back again. It can be kinda tricky - sometimes they make you look dowdy, other times you may look like a little girl. So here are some interesting choices of bows for both clothes and accessories!
